The 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SL1M) is a programme to enhance the employability or the ability of graduates to gain employment in collaboration with government linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Prime Minister of Malaysia has announced that companies agreeing to provide training and job placement to graduates who need opportunities for career advancement are eligible for tax incentives.
These companies may recommend appropriate training programmes covering soft skills and on-the-job training for a maximum period of one year.
The target groups for this programme are:
(i) unemployed graduates holding a bachelor’s degree;
(ii) graduates holding a bachelor’s degree employed in a position or earning a salary not commensurate with their qualification
Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions the 1Malaysia Training Scheme include:
- The company must be a legitimate company involved in the training scheme and recognised by the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister's Department.
- The programme offered must be recognised by the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister's Department under the 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SL1M).
- The SL1M module covers 2 months’ soft skill training and a minimum of 6 months on-the-job training as agreed and endorsed by the Economic Planning Unit.
- Selected companies must ensure that all participants are appropriately employed before the end of the programme period.
Application approval date: 1 June 2012 - 31 Dec 2014
Incentive period: 3 years from date of approval
